How much will it cost to replace a blown electrical outlet?

This friend of a friend (who is supposedly an electrician, mind you) was hooking up an outdoor water fountain on my patio and used an INDOOR ONLY extension cord. Then it rained and guess what! Now the outlet is completely blown (yes, I have tried the fuse box). How much is it going to cost me to fix this? Grrrrr!

You can buy an outlet for $1. Just turn the breaker off (you know which one it is now), take a screwdriver and needle nose pliers out to the outlet. Remove old outlet and connect new one the same way old one was connected. It is doubtful there is any damage to the wiring. Just to check though, if this is an outdoor outlet, it is probably GFCI. If so, push the Reset button on it before changing it to see if that fixes your problem. If you need to replace a GFCI outlet they are more expensive – probably around $5.
