Know anything about the British Garden Frog?

I just went to get some logs for the fire and found a huge garden frog hiding on one of the logs. Is this frog hibernating? Don’t they usually hibernate in water? S/he didn’t jump or move but was very much alive, I put him/her (might be a her) into a small cardboard box and put the box at the back of the logs. When I was going back into the house I noticed what looked like eggs on the patio table, is this frog confused? Did I do the right thing? We have cats and I didn’t want them to help themselves.

the frog isnt confused and possibly the cats have already found the eggs and put them on the patio. as far as being in the pile of wood and not moving it was possibly trying not to be noticed. you suprised it and it was shocked into having its regular habitat disoriented or something alog those lines possibly.
